Each “SCARAB” kit is a unique, handmade piece, produced in a limited and numbered series from zero/29, sold exclusively by Ancillotti Motorcycles.
All modifications are crafted manually and may feature slight imperfections due to the hand-crafted production process.
The graphic concepts are developed by the Ancillotti Style Office, with the consultation of the brand’s historical founder, Alberto Ancillotti, who has personally signed each transformation kit.
The graphics are airbrushed by hand in Florence by Mau Design, a specialist known for designing helmet graphics for many Moto GP riders.
The production process of the “SCARAB” kit begins with the smoothing of the side panels, dashboard, and front shield, followed by airbrushed graphics, two coats of glossy catalyzed clear paint, a final sanding, and a last coat of catalyzed paint in either matte or glossy finish, depending on the kit’s specifications.
The aluminum “SCARAB” inscription is milled, tumbled, and brushed, while the tags are printed on sublimated aluminum.
All work is handcrafted in the Florence area through a certified supply chain.
The kit comes with a certificate of warranty and authenticity in both physical and digital format, accessible on the website
www-ancillotti.com/kit-scooter, where the frame number of the customized Ancillotti Lambretta, the kit production date, and its customization specifications are recorded.
Each “SCARAB” kit features an aluminum plaque identifying the kit and its limited-edition number, with Alberto Ancillotti’s signature hand-stamped onto it.

The name Scarab was chosen by Alberto Ancillotti because “there was an English car I liked, and the name sounded good.” The emblem of the winged scarab was incorporated into the brand’s logo, inspired by the pietra serena stone portal of the Medici icehouse on Viale delle Cascine in Florence. From the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, the Ancillotti brand, with its iconic scarab logo, produced over 40,000 motorcycles across more than 100 models, including Cross, Enduro, Trial, Regolarità, and Competition bikes, as well as mopeds. The most famous and sought after model, then as now, was the Scarab, available in 50 c.c. and 125 c.c. versions every teenager’s dream bike and the most expensive on the market. The Scarab was first introduced in 1968 as a modified version of the Beta Cross Special, available in 50 and 100 c.c. variants. Its unexpected commercial success convinced Gualtiero Ancillotti, founder of the brand, along with his sons Alberto and Piero, to take the leap from tuning specialist to full fledged motorcycle manufacturer. They began producing the first Scarab models, featuring two stroke engines and frames supplied by Beta, which were then meticulously modified. By 1970, the Scarab had undergone a complete overhaul of its chassis and was equipped with Sachs 50 c.c. and 125 c.c. engines in Regolarità, Cross, and Competition versions. The power of the engine, the high quality materials and handcrafted assembly components, combined with numerous race victories, quickly made the Scarab one of the most coveted motorcycles among 14 year olds (who were not yet licensed) and 16 year old newly licensed Italian riders. However, its high price tag significantly limited the number of units sold. Moreover, the factory’s semi artisanal production approach meant that demand far exceeded supply, and in the early 1970s, the waiting lists for delivery stretched to near mythical lengths, testing the patience of eager customers. In 1972, a further update introduced the stylish rhombus-shaped fuel tank, known as the rombo, which remained unchanged in some versions until 1982, the year the model was discontinued. With excellent component quality, the Scarab had few flaws to speak of. Over its long production run, different engines were used to make the bike more affordable. Alongside the original Beta and classic Sachs engines, the Scarab was also equipped with power units from Franco Morini, Minarelli, Hiro, and Villa. One of the signature design elements that has always distinguished the Ancillotti brand, besides the unmistakable shape of its fuel tanks and its characteristic Ancillotti yellow (Scarab 496, ASI Lechler Anc.2), is the use of brushed aluminum. This hallmark feature continues today in the brand’s high performance MTB competition bikes, including the Scarab, FRY, Tomaso, Scarab 27.5, Scarab EVO 29, and Scarab EVO 29 SB for Enduro and Downhill racing. The meticulous, fully handcrafted manufacturing process has always given Ancillotti vehicles a refined and distinctive appeal a true handmade in Italy product. The SCARAB version of the new Ancillotti kitted Lambretta pays homage to the iconic color of this legendary motorcycle’s fuel tank. The SCARAB kit is handcrafted with artisanal expertise in the Florentine region, produced in a limited and numbered edition, from zero/29.
