Ancillotti Scarab SB: The Italian-Made Enduro Bike
After two years of development and race testing, Ancillotti introduces the Scarab SB, the latest enduro racing offering from the renowned Italian brand, now available to all enthusiasts. Used by the Abetone Gravity Racing team, supported by Ancillotti for major national events and during the challenging Enduro World Cup 2023, this model represents the latest evolution from the historic Tuscan company, now based in Valperga, near Turin.
The Ancillotti Scarab SB is an evolution of the iconic model, showcasing the style and originality of Tomaso Ancillotti, son of the legendary founder Alberto.
Ancillotti Scarab SB: Design and Features
The Ancillotti Scarab SB, ridden by top racers Tommaso Francardo and Nadine Ellecosta, now features 170 mm of rear travel managed by the distinctive Pull Shock system from the Italian brand. This system utilizes a Formula MOD coil shock with a 210 mm x 55 mm stroke, managed by a linkage that works in extension (pull) rather than the typical compression (push).
Recent improvements include compatibility with the universal UDH derailleur hanger, allowing the use of the latest SRAM Eagle Transmission. The rear hub features a 157×12 mm axle for enhanced rigidity and precision, alongside an optimized chainline and a 73 mm BSA bottom bracket.
Additionally, the main suspension pivot now has a wider axle for improved torsional rigidity and more efficient pedaling during intense race situations.
Geometry
The Scarab SB is available in five sizes, from S to XXL, with dimensions designed specifically for Enduro Racing. Key measurements include a 63° head angle, a seat angle adjustable from 79° to 76.5° for better rider positioning, a 445 mm rear end, a 33 mm BB Drop, reach measurements from 461 to 532 mm, stack from 626 to 644 mm, and a wheelbase ranging from 1,250 to 1,330 mm.
