Ancillotti Unveils the Scarab Evo 29

Tomaso Ancillotti presents his latest creation, the Scarab Evo 29. Building on the historic Scarab model that has made the Tuscan brand famous for over 20 years, this new iteration combines traditional Ancillotti features with several innovations. The Scarab Evo 29 features 160 mm of rear and front suspension travel. As the name suggests, it comes with 29-inch wheels and aggressive geometry, including a 65° head angle, a low bottom bracket (345 mm), and a generous wheelbase of 1,215 mm. The size of the bike Tomaso presents is between a M and an L, with customizable sizing options. The front triangle is notably sloped, and while it resembles previous Scarab models, it uses larger diameter tubing and fittings designed for increased stiffness.

The suspension system is the classic Ancillotti Pull Shock, a Single Pivot indirect linkage with a pull drive. The Pull Shock linkages and shock have been repositioned further forward to accommodate the 29-inch wheel diameter. The rear triangle is quite short for a 29" bike with 160 mm of travel, measuring only 435 mm to maximize maneuverability. The Boost 148 rear axle spacing enhances overall stiffness.

The shock is a coil, lockable unit made by Ancillotti, tailored to the frame both in terms of dimensions and hydraulic settings. Custom tuning is available from Ancillotti based on customer specifications. Alternatively, a standard air shock can be fitted with a specific linkage.

+The bike features a single-chainring transmission with no option for a front derailleur. For its builds and athletes, Ancillotti opts for Formula brakes and forks. The Selva 29" fork also offers 160 mm of travel.

The cockpit includes a Renthal carbon handlebar and a YEP Uptimizer 2.0 telescopic seatpost. CNC machining and welding details are evident throughout. The stated weight for the bike shown (without pedals) is 12.7 kg. The frame price is €2,900.

Available from January 2017 with a delivery time of 40 days from the order date.
